自然災(zāi)害致力于對(duì)自然災(zāi)害各個(gè)方面的原始研究工作，包括災(zāi)難性事件的預(yù)測(cè)、風(fēng)險(xiǎn)管理以及自然和技術(shù)災(zāi)害前體的性質(zhì)。盡管危險(xiǎn)源和系統(tǒng)不同，如大氣、水文、海洋學(xué)、火山學(xué)、地震、新構(gòu)造，但環(huán)境影響同樣具有災(zāi)難性。這就保證了不同科學(xué)和操作學(xué)科之間的密切互動(dòng)，旨在加強(qiáng)對(duì)危險(xiǎn)的緩解。覆蓋范圍包括大氣、氣候?qū)W、海洋學(xué)、風(fēng)暴潮、海嘯、洪水、雪、雪崩、滑坡、侵蝕、地震、火山、人為和技術(shù)等危險(xiǎn)類別，以及風(fēng)險(xiǎn)評(píng)估。

Natural Hazards is devoted to original research work on all aspects of natural hazards, including the forecasting of catastrophic events, risk management, and the nature of precursors of natural and technological hazards.Although hazards can originate in different sources and systems, such as atmospheric, hydrologic, oceanographic, volcanologic, seismic, neotectonic, the environmental impacts are equally catastrophic. This warrants a close interaction between different scientific and operational disciplines, aimed at enhancing the mitigation of hazards.Coverage includes such categories of hazard as atmospheric, climatological, oceanographic, storm surges, tsunamis, floods, snow, avalanches, landslides, erosion, earthquakes, volcanoes, man-made and technological, as well as risk assessment.
