作為該領域的第一本開放獲取期刊，《口腔微生物學雜志》的目標是成為一個有影響力的知識來源，了解口腔傳染病背后的病因。該雜志是一個關于“口腔健康”各個方面的原創研究的國際論壇。試圖通過探索口腔感染的發病機制、毒性、宿主-寄生蟲相互作用和免疫學來了解“口腔健康”的文章尤其令人感興趣。然而，該雜志也歡迎處理口腔傳染病全球議程的工作，以及提出治療和預防新戰略或改進現有戰略的文章。

As the first Open Access journal in its field, the Journal of Oral Microbiology aims to be an influential source of knowledge on the aetiological agents behind oral infectious diseases. The journal is an international forum for original research on all aspects of 'oral health'. Articles which seek to understand 'oral health' through exploration of the pathogenesis, virulence, host-parasite interactions, and immunology of oral infections are of particular interest. However, the journal also welcomes work that addresses the global agenda of oral infectious diseases and articles that present new strategies for treatment and prevention or improvements to existing strategies.
