《數學生物學雜志》專注于數學生物學——用數學方法來獲得生物學理解或解釋生物學現象的工作。論文應該提供作為數學分析結果的生物洞察力，或者識別并開放來自生物知識的具有挑戰性的新類型的數學問題(以數據、理論或模擬結果的形式)。數學思想、方法、技術和結果是受歡迎的，只要它們在生物環境中顯示出足夠的有用潛力。我們鼓勵作者對主要結果進行簡短的總結討論，以便有生物學背景的讀者能夠閱讀。所涵蓋的生物學領域包括但不限于:細胞生物學、生理學、發育、神經生物學、遺傳學和群體遺傳學、群體生物學、生態學、行為生物學、進化、流行病學、免疫學、分子生物學、生物體液、DNA和蛋白質結構與功能。所有的數學方法包括計算方法和可視化方法都是合適的。最先進的調查報告，包括前瞻性的討論或猜測，特別受歡迎。

The Journal of Mathematical Biology focuses on mathematical biology - work that uses mathematical approaches to gain biological understanding or explain biological phenomena.Papers should either provide biological insight as a result of mathematical analysis or identify and open up challenging new types of mathematical problems that derive from biological knowledge (in the form of data, or theory, or simulation results). Mathematical ideas, methods, techniques and results are welcome, provided they show sufficient potential for usefulness in a biological context. Authors are encouraged to include a brief summarising discussion of the main results to make them accessible to readers with biology background.Areas of biology covered include, but are not restricted to, cell biology, physiology, development, neurobiology, genetics and population genetics, population biology, ecology, behavioural biology, evolution, epidemiology, immunology, molecular biology, biofluids, DNA and protein structure and function. All mathematical approaches including computational and visualization approaches are appropriate.State-of-the-art survey papers, including prospective discussion or speculation, are particularly welcome.
