礦物學(xué)和巖石學(xué)是由古斯塔夫·切爾馬克于1872年創(chuàng)立的，當(dāng)時(shí)的名字是“Mineralogische Mitteilungen”。它是歐洲最古老的地球科學(xué)期刊之一。前編輯包括杰出的名字，如Tschermak Becke Machatschki和Zemann。《礦物學(xué)與巖石學(xué)》是礦物學(xué)、巖石學(xué)和地球化學(xué)的整體研究領(lǐng)域。重點(diǎn)還放在晶體學(xué)、晶體化學(xué)、晶體物理學(xué)、礦床研究和環(huán)境礦物學(xué)等以礦物學(xué)為導(dǎo)向的專題上，以期抵消地球科學(xué)日益破碎的現(xiàn)象。不接受區(qū)域說(shuō)明文件。

Mineralogy and Petrology was founded in 1872 by Gustav Tschermak as "Mineralogische Mitteilungen". It is one of Europe's oldest geoscience journals. Former editors include outstanding names such as Tschermak Becke Machatschki and Zemann. "Mineralogy and Petrology" is devoted to the whole field of mineralogy petrology and geochemistry. Emphasis is also placed on mineralogically-oriented topics in crystallography crystal chemistry crystal physics the study of ore deposits and environmental mineralogy in an attempt to counteract increasing fragmentation in the earth sciences. Regional descriptive papers are not accepted.
